Gregg, Thanks for the fishing trip for my brother-in-law and my son. They really enjoyed it. Robin has always wanted to fish with (you) ever since Michelle would tell him about you and your dad catching all of those big ones. Also he has always wanted to put his uncle on one of those. I told him the next time they come up (that is usually once every 3 or 4 years) I would try to make it happen. I know it was a bit of a hassle for you but I really appreciated you doing it. Sorry about the motor problems but those things happen. I am so glad Jimmie caught one. Wished Robin could have. But maybe one of these days he can do it again with you...Take care and good luck with your future. Enjoy every day, life is too short not to...down the road...
Oh I attached the photo of Jimmie and his fish.
May you always fish upstream
May your fly always float up
May your strike be swift and sure
and May your release to the water always be gentle and appreciative — Lloyd "the old fisherman"
Gregg, Thanks so much for taking me out on Cave Run on June 29. Your guide service is so much better than the other one I used last year. It's really nice to know there is a guide that cares about letting the client use the front of the boat and point the front of the boat so the client has the best casting areas. I was never a fan of trolling but you shined a new light on it. I never knew it was that much work, but enjoyable just the same. Trolling for me will never be the same again. Thanks for the memories.

Some will say I am biased because I am the designer of this site, but I would like to add my own testimonial to this page. You see, I have been musky fishing for years and have caught a fair number of fish, but last
week Gregg put me on the most incredible bite I have ever experienced. He and I fished for two days in alternating bright sun and rain and I was fortunate enough to boat 12 muskies including five over 40 inches. Oh yeah, and one was my largest ever — 48 inches! This would just be "the right place at the right time" in other instances, but with Gregg I am here to tell you it is because he is good. Very good. Last month, he and I took first place by catching seven fish in a spring musky tournament on southern Illinois' Kinkaid Lake. Although I have fished there many times, Gregg had only made it to Kinkaid a few times, yet the winning pattern and location was all his doing. I just reeled in the fish! His record on the PMTT trail has proven that he can get on the fish anywhere.
But it isn't just the fishing ability that impresses me about Gregg. Since I first met him about three years ago I have noticed a professionalism and business sense that I have not in any of the other guides I have fished with, including some of the biggest names in the sport. Working with him on this site has reaffirmed that impression. Gregg is very serious about not only catching fish, but providing his clients an extremely well run guide service and a pleasurable experience. I highly recommend that you "Battle The Beast!"

Hey Gregg,
Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed my most recent fishing trip with you at Cave Run Lake. Although my previous trip with you was great, this one was even better. I would never have dreamed of hooking seven muskies in only two days. Considering the flooded condition of the lake and the cold front that we were battling it was even more amazing. I know without your knowledge of the lake, muskie fishing in general, and the patience you showed in helping me find and hook these fish, that my success would have been impossible. Thanks for helping me have such a great fishing experience. I’m already looking forward to my next trip with you in the fall. Until then, lots of luck in your fishing endeavors.

Gregg,
I would like to thank you for the great time that Jordan and I had fishing with you. You made us feel like we were your fishing buddies. I really enjoyed the day and the muskies. I did not want to go home. I am thinking of coming back soon and try it myself along with my uncle. Thank you again for the great time, keep up the good work! Hope to see you on the water. Take care.

(Letter to Musky Hunter magazine)
Too many people complain these days-- We are writing to tell you about an awesome guide service and a great place to stay when fishing Cave Run Lake in Kentucky. My buddy (David), my son (Jimmy-7 yrs. old) and I recently (May 6th-10th) went to Cave Run for a fishing trip. After looking over the 3 guides that advertise in your magazine for the area we opted to go with Battle the Beast.
Not knowing it before hand, the conditions were HORRIBLE!!! The lake was at least 10-15ft above summer pool and it stormed almost the whole week down there. I say this to set the "mood". We have used a guide in the past who we ended up hating!! We were nervous about doing it again!! Gregg Thomas immediately put those fears to rest!! Even though we had to sit out about 2 hours one day due to storms, Gregg managed to have a personality that was beyond awesome!!! He managed to raise a couple---we each got one on the first day. My son got his first (see attch'd photos) and is hooked!!!! Gregg took great care to include him in ALL aspects of the "hunt". Due to conditions, casting was out, we could only troll. My son has come home telling everyone what a great guy Gregg was and how we all caught fish. He even remembers his name and all the things Gregg taught not only him but us as well!! The first day was the only day we caught fish. The other 4 days we were skunked. Seeing the other guides and Gregg during the week we found they were skunked as well!!!
We will always suggest Gregg Thomas and Battle the Beast Guide Service!! Gregg left us with such a positive impression. Even though the fishing was horrible we had the greatest time of our lives, thanks to Gregg, and we look forward to going back and Yes we will use Battle the Beast again!! As a closing note I would also like to suggest Pine Tree Rentals as a place to stay. The place was fantastic!! It had everything you could possibly think of and more---all you need to bring is your groceries--literally!! We can not begin to thank Pine Tree Rentals and Battle the Beast for an awesome week!! I really hope it dries out soon for them; more rain was expected when we left!! Lastly, thank you Musky Hunter for telling us about them!!!
Thanks A Million to All 3 of you!!!
Sincerely,
— Jim, David and Jimmy
"Thanks for giving me the opportunity to fish with you. I would like to thank you and Tony for stopping by being speakers at our Indiana Muskie Classic.
Thanks again for the seminar, tips, and great fishing on the Cave".

"Thanks again for an enjoyable day of fishing Cave Run Lake. Having fished in Canada before I truly appreciate that you were able to bring not only one but two muskies into the boat yesterday. If not for your guiding experience, persistence and hard work, I know we would have come up empty. Again, thanks for my first muskellunge and a great day!"

Dear Gregg,
Hey, it's me, G-Funk, just writing to thank you for the musky of a lifetime! Enclosed are a few pictures of the beast. As I look at them, I have to pinch myself to believe how big it really was. Again, I can't thank you enough. If you ever need anything, I will be happy to do it. Oh, also you finally smiled in one of the pictures. Way to go! I knew you could do it! Just playing with you. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I do. I can't wait to see you at the Chicago Musky Show. Hope you can do the same for another client as you did for me. I am truly grateful.

NOTE: This Muskie was the largest release on the lake that year!
